Good morning and happy Monday!
Today is the first day of the new winter semester at Grand Valley, so I figured it was the perfect day to talk about my goals for 2017. It took me a little longer to figure out what I really wanted out of this year, but I’m so ready to conquer them!

Get in shape. This is something that I’ve been working on for a while now, but I’m going all in this year! I need to make going to the gym a part of my life and do it consistently. I currently have the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Workout Guide and the Nutrition Guide, so hopefully they make this process a little easier for me. I’ll be sure to post updates throughout the next few weeks!
Get inspired. I feel like I’ve been so tied down with work and school that I haven’t had the time to be creative and do things that make me happy. Starting now I will be reading and writing every night before bed, even if it’s just for a short time. I also want to dive deeper into the fashion world with a new hobby. Stay tuned for some of my big ideas!
Hit the books. Last semester was tough for me, so I’ve decided that starting now I will be hitting the books harder than ever before. I only have 3 more semesters left of college and I want to end on a good note. I plan on spending more time at the library, instead of studying in my apartment because I always end up getting distracted. I’ll make sure to use my Erin Condren Life Planner to stay on track as well!

The most important thing about setting goals is staying motivated to achieve those goals. Whenever you feel like giving up, think about why you wanted to start in the first place! Have you set your goals for 2017 yet? Comment below now!
Hi Allyson,
It has been about a month and a half since 2016 has come to a close and the new year has begun. I set some similar goals myself in that I want to get my grades up and work a lot harder. I feel that getting inspired and staying motivated is one of the reasons that holds many of us back. I find it difficult to bring myself to study a lot of the time. Do you have any recommendations on what I could do? How are your goals coming along so far? Good luck in 2017.
Cheers,
Ewan

Hi Ewan,
I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I try to keep myself motivated by reminding myself of what I truly want out of life. I know that I will not reach my goals and have the things I want without a college degree, so recently, I created a vision board that hangs on the wall near my desk that has inspirational quotes and photos that make me happy, so maybe you could try the same thing? Every time you feel unmotivated to get your work done or study for that big exam, take a look at your beautiful vision board and I’m sure you’ll be reminded as to why you’re pushing yourself so hard in the first place!
Thank you for reaching out!
Best,
Allyson
