Back To School Organizational Tips

Hello loves!

The new semester is officially underway at Grand Valley and that means one thing; my schedule will be going from zero to sixty almost immediately! Balancing classes, work, a sorority and blogging may sound impossible, but I’ve figured out a system that has yet to fail! Check out some of my favorite planners and tips below!

I recently came across the Erin Condren Life Planners after reading my best friend, Tessa’s, “Find Your Perfect Planner” series on her blog a few weeks ago (read that post here). It really is the perfect planner because you’re able to design it yourself! I chose one of my favorite colors for the cover page and, of course, added my initials, but it’s what’s on the inside that really matters! Each month is laid out with plenty of room to add specific dates, and my weekly layout is set up hourly for each day.

One way to help yourself keep everything straight is to color code. I use highlighters, colored pens, and even stickers to make sure things stand out. It’s not only a great way to keep your activities and dates separated, but it makes planning out each month fun.

My new Kate Spade agenda has completely changed my life. Before, I was cramming blog ideas and post schedules into my other two planners and even typing them on my phone, which was unreliable at times. Having a completely different planner where I can be creative and organized is so much more ideal. The monthly and weekly layouts are the perfect sizes to jot down my posting schedules, and I love that there’s several large note pages for me to simply write down ideas and inspiration.

One thing that I find super helpful is writing down dates to start posts, and dates to actually publish posts. Now this may be something I do for my blog, however, this method can be applied to school too. If you tend to put things off and procrastinate studying or starting a project, first of all, you’re not alone. Try setting aside some time and write down when to begin working a few days before the exam or due date, that way you won’t feel rushed!

When I’m on the go and don’t have room in my purse for my Erin Condren or Kate Spade planners, I grab my adorable Color Crush planner. This planner has been my go-to pocket planner for years because it’s so compact while still having everything I need. There’s obviously the monthly and weekly spreads, but there’s also different tabs for just notes. My favorite section is the Lists To Love because I’m a die-hard list maker.

Carrying around a small planner is a great way to reference any dates or even write down inspiration throughout the day. I truly believe that when things are written down, you’re more likely to remember them. Same with goal setting. You’re much more likely to reach a goal when you put it in writing!

This is definitely a busy time of year, but don’t let the stress of balancing all of your responsibilities get to you! There are so many great options out there for planners and I’m sure you’ll find the one that’s right for you!

xoxo
