End of Sophomore Year

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful morning so far!

For those of you who do not know,
Today is the last day of my sophomore year at Grand Valley! I’m sort of mixed between feeling super happy and super scared at the same time because I’m only two short years away from graduating and entering the real world. But I have to say, this past year has definitely been one for the books. I accomplished so much and grew more confident each and every day.

Coming into my second year of college felt very different than the first. I wasn’t as nervous about the schoolwork because I knew what to expect this time around, but it was hard adjusting since I had just transferred from a community college back home. I didn’t know too many people at Grand Valley so the first few weeks were pretty lonely. I missed my friends back home, I missed coming home to my family every day, and I missed not having to worry so much about the future. It was hard, but with every day that passed, things got better.

Joining Phi Mu was the best decision I made all year because the women I met within the Rho Eta chapter helped me to evolve into a much happier, more self-assured woman. They continue to encourage me in everything that I set my mind to and help me to reach my true potential. Every single one of the girls I have met have truly inspired me and I do not know where I would be without them.

Finishing up my internship at Posh Petals and then being asked to work part time was another huge accomplishment this year. The ladies of Posh are honestly like my second family. I gained so much knowledge about the Hospitality industry, but I also learned how to let my creativity shine. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me at Posh Petals.

Getting to spend my free days relaxing and having tea with Tessa was one of the highlights of each week this year. Tessa and I go way back, like I’m talking way back to elementary school. When we found out that we would both be attending GVSU, we promised each other that we would spend more time together, and now we’re going to be roomies this fall! I couldn’t be happier!

This school year seems like it went by in the blink of an eye, but I know that with every ending comes a new beginning.

Until next time,

Allyson
