Food and Friends at the Downtown Market

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!

It’s never a dull day when best friends come to visit! Yesterday, Dana and I explored the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids, and it was probably one of the best days her and I have shared in a while. It was her first time visiting the market and I was so excited for her to take it all in.

We of course had to start the morning off with some coffee from Simpatico!

After admiring all of the delicious food and pastries with wide eyes, we agreed that it was time for lunch. Dana chose to have an acai bowl from Malamiah Juice Bar and I opted for something a little more savory than sweet (shocking, I know). I’m a sucker for fresh seafood though, so I got a cup of the clam chowder from Fish Lads. It clearly did not take long for me to dig right in!

After lunch we decided to check out the greenhouse, which is personally my favorite part of the Downtown Market.

Dana even found a little lady bug friend.

You simply can’t visit the Downtown Market without getting a crepe from Penelope’s Creperie. They’re almost too good to handle. Dana had never had one before so I had to explain to her that you can’t go wrong with a strawberry, banana and nutella crepe (lesson well learned while I was in Paris last summer).

Dana and I had so much fun exploring the market with all of the different types of food and goods. We talked and laughed late into the afternoon. We went home with happy hearts, and a bit of a sugar rush, but it was quite the day!

Until next time,

Allyson
