NYBFW Fall 2018 Trends

Hello beautiful people!

It’s the first day of a brand new week, and it’s an extra special one because I’m here to share with you some of the top trends I noticed at New York Bridal Fashion Week. I saw a handful of amazing collections, some I have been wanting to see for years now, and I’m so excited to finally give you the inside scoop on it all!

Pearl Details.

One of the biggest detail trends I saw during my time in NYC were the gorgeous pearl embellishments. The dainty little details are so classic and bridal, but they also add a unique texture when they are mixed with other rhinestones. I personally loved this trend most of all because I’ve always been a huge fan of pearls. I think they will definitely stick around for a while, so if you love them just as much as I do, expect to see them in future seasons!

Simple & Classic.

Thanks to the amazing duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, the clean and simple wedding gowns are coming to center stage! From clean crepe to satin and machado, it’s all about “less is more” and luxurious fabrics. What’s great about these looks is that they really won’t ever go out of style, so you can ensure your future kids and grandkids will all be fighting over who gets to wear your dress for their big days!

Off The Shoulder.

This is one trend that has hit the bridal industry with full force and I don’t think it’s going anywhere any time soon! When I was working at Bianka Bridal as a stylist, I believe 60-70% of my brides would come in asking for an off the shoulder look. I think it’s so feminine and it has a classic essence, which is really what all brides are looking for.

Bows.

Bows. Bows. Bows. Give me all of the bows! From dainty ribbons, to the iconic rhinestone bows by Reem Acra, this is one trend I hope never goes away!! They’re so versatile and I love seeing how designers incorporate them into their gowns. I can almost guarantee that you will be seeing more bows in the upcoming seasons.

Capes.

Capes began to creep into the bridal scene last year around this time, and they’re still going strong! Many brides have been opting for a dramatic cape rather than a traditional veil, and I personally am loving it. Capes are such statement pieces and they can completely transform a look. Couture designers like Ines di Santo and Reem Acra did not disappoint with their capes this season!

It was so hard for me to pick favorites this year. I had a few, but many of them are pictured above in this post! These collections were some of the prettiest I’ve seen in a while. While there was one dress in particular that caught my attention, I’m choosing not to picture it because it could be a contender for a future wedding dress for myself… 🙂 Any guesses on what it looks like? Comment below! xoxo
