Ciao everyone and happy Wednesday!
I just left Cinque Terre today after having the most fun and adventurous couple of days! For those of you who do not know, Cinque Terre is a group of five villages perched along mountain sides overlooking the Mediterranean. Each one is just picture perfect! I stayed in Riomaggiore, which was tiny, but beautiful. There was really only one street that had restaurants and shops, but the views of the sea made up for it!
My friends and I enjoyed exploring a few of the other towns, like Portovenere, which was the furthest away, but it was totally worth it! We had a nice lunch all together and just took in the views. We also loved relaxing while watching the sunset. It’s hard to beat a Lake Michigan sunset, but the ones here come pretty close!
One of the craziest things we did while staying in Cinque Terre was hike the trail weaving through all of the cities and mountains. It was right around six miles, which is about five and a half too many in my book. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I am not a hiker, but there’s something about being here in Italy that’s giving me the courage to do anything. My feet were bleeding by the end and I thought for sure I coughed up a lung somewhere along the way, but I actually did it! We made it to Monterosso, home to some of the most amazing beaches in Cinque Terre, and we all celebrated. It was one of the best days I’ve had here yet.
I am so eager to see and experience more! Next stop, Venice 🙂
xoxo
