September Café Chat: Patterns, Prints & Textures

Hello everyone!

I have the best news! My blogging tribe and I are so excited to finally launch Café Chat, our first ever blog series collaboration! Each and every month the four of us will meet at one of our favorite cafés or coffee shops to talk about topics that inspire us the most. I love knowing that I’ll walk away each time feeling less stressed and more motivated by the most amazing women!

For our first ever meeting, we visited Sparrows coffee shop near downtown Grand Rapids. It was early in the morning after I got back from Chicago so I felt very much like a zombie,  however, I completely changed my mood once we all began chatting. Paige, Where  The Wildflowers Are, decided our first topic would be our favorite patterns, prints and textures, so we each brought the small items that either inspire our style, writing, every day moods or all of the above! Paige brought with her so many little knick knacks including her wood grain water bottle, detailed tea cups and her favorite colored pencils. Paige is a very authentic and creative woman who loves nature and all things art. She’s the kind of person you can’t help but fall in love with. She talked about how she yearns to open up her own boutique where she can sell her pieces, especially her amazing dream catchers. I could tell by the way she spoke that she was extremely passionate about her future.

Tessa, Simply Tess, brought several photos of different textural elements, some with mountains since she loves winter and skiing, and some of a few of her favorite plants. Tessa feels most inspired when she is outside in nature. I couldn’t even begin to explain how excited she sounded when she spoke about the season changing because she loves the vibes she gets from Fall. She has a very minimalistic style and loves organization, much like I do! I’m so inspired by Tessa and her writing because she has such a strong voice and is so put together!

Alyssa, Somewhere Between Vogue & Van Gogh, shared with us black and white fashion books, along with her very special magazines from France. She explained how she’s inspired by classic, simplistic styles and prints. I loved connecting with her on all things Paris because it was also one of my favorite places that I’ve visited. I can’t wait to talk with her more about her time in France!

When it came time for me to share, I was so eager because I was still on cloud nine after my visit to Chicago for the National Bridal Market (read more about that trip here). I explained how I am so incredibly inspired by bridal fashion, that I like to center my personal style around it. I love wearing whites and ivories, as well as lace. I once had a friend tell me that shopping was always easy with me because whenever I would see something that was white and lacy, I would buy it immediately and then be done. I just love it because there are so many different patterns that designers can create!

Bridal Fashion means so much to me because I have always dreamed of opening up my own bridal shop and doing event planning with it. I guess being in the industry that brings so much happiness and joy to other people’s lives just fuels my happiness as well. Tessa, Paige and Alyssa actually nicknamed me the “silent killer” because I may be sweet and quiet sometimes, but I don’t let anything stand in the way of my dreams!

I was so moved by these marvelous women! We are all so different, but somehow we click so well!  I can’t wait to learn more from each one of them through our monthly Café Chats. Make sure you stay up to date on each one, and also be sure to check out Paige, Tessa and Alyssa on their personal blogs to learn a little more about them.

xoxo
