Let me first say,
You are not alone. Lately, I have been feeling so down about everything and I don’t even have an explanation as to why. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the stress of classes, maybe it’s the fact that I’m only a few semesters away from moving on to the real world, or maybe it’s a combination of all three. Either way, I get why you want to quit. It’s not easy to continue on when you’re unhappy. But I challenge you to rethink why you’re pushing yourself in the first place. What is it that you want out of life? If you quit now, will you ever reach that goal? Being a college student, I have at least a handful of breakdowns every week, but I know that if I quit school, I will never have the dream career that I’m pursuing. So next time you want to give up, remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be.
Continue to do little things that make you happy, even if it’s something as simple as reading your favorite book. I know that it might seem like you’re having more bad days than good, so doing this will definitely help to keep your spirits up on a regular basis. Some things I do to boost my mood might be like lighting my favorite candles, going to my favorite restaurant, rewarding myself with some shopping, and spending time with the people I love.
One thing I recently did to help myself keep focus is create a vision board. This board hangs perfectly on the wall by my desk, and I can clearly see it from my bed as well. My vision board has inspirational quotes and photos that not only make me so happy to look at, but they each represent things that I want in my future. When I wake up in the morning, it’s one of the first things I see, and when I struggle to get through some tough homework, I can look up and feel more motivated to finish strong.
The main thing I want you to know is that it’s okay to admit that you’re unhappy. There’s no use in faking a smile every single day, but don’t let this slump cause you to lose your fire. You are strong and capable of so much more than you think! And remember, sometimes it’s the most difficult roads that lead to most the most beautiful destinations.
xoxo
