WE ARE MOVING!!!

Yup, you read that right, Jacob and I are officially packing our bags and moving out of the beautiful state of Michigan! It’s so bittersweet for me to say that because I never pictured myself moving out of state so soon. I love where we are at, but we both have received amazing jobs offers, so the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas will be our new home in a little over a month from now! It will be quite the adjustment, especially because I am not a fan of the heat, but I think this will be the first big step towards an even brighter future for our little family.

I’m so excited to start working as the new southwest regional sales representative for bridal fashion designer, Nicole Milano, once I get down there. I will be traveling all over the region selling the gorgeous dresses from each of the nine collections to bridal stores, as well as helping those stores with future trunk shows, attending bridal markets and shows all over the world, and helping to run the social media for the markets in the United States. This opportunity really is like a dream. Bridal fashion has become one my biggest passions and I can’t wait to see where it takes me!

Jacob accepted a position with Universal Forest Products, the company he has been with for two years, at their Saginaw, TX location where he will also be working in sales. He was down there for a little over six weeks earlier this Spring for an internship and he absolutely loved it! He met a lot of great people and he feels that it could be an amazing place for the next chapter of our lives.

Everyone keeps telling me that I’m going to love Dallas, but I can’t help but be a little nervous for this huge change. I’m optimistic about it, but Michigan will always be home to me. It’s where all of the memories are. I will miss being able to hop in a car and see all of my family within a matter of minutes. I will miss all of the days spent out on the lake up north. I will miss spending time with my best friends at our favorite coffee shops downtown. I will miss being able to show people where I live by holding out my hand (LOL). It’s just the little things that I will have to learn to adjust to once we get down there.

So next week, Jacob and I will be leaving our apartment here in Grand Rapids to move back home and spend as much time as we can with our close friends and family. All of August, we plan to do our “lasts.” Even though we know we will be back to visit, we don’t know when that will be exactly, so we want to have one last camping trip to Higgins Lake, one last stop at all of our favorite Michigan restaurants, and one last big party with our family before we take off.

The official day that Jacob leaves is September 4th because he will be driving the U-Haul truck down with his dad, while I plan to fly out with my mom and Isla Rose on September 6th. Ahhhh now that I type this all out I’m realizing how soon it all is!!! Please send some positive vibes our way so this whole process goes smoothly and I don’t lose my mind!

Thank you all for the wonderful support over the years! I will definitely be keeping up with this blog and posting updates along the way and keeping everyone in the loop about our new life down there. And if you have any recommendations of things Jake and I should do or places we should go in Texas, please let us know! xoxo

I had Isla registered as an Emotional Support Animal a few months back to help me, and she’s been training a couple times a week so she will be prepared to fly with me in the cabin. I could never have her anywhere but right next to me! I would recommend looking into the regulations on pets with whatever airline you plan on flying with to see what they allow! Also check with you vet to see what they recommend as well!
